his year, HuggleGroup® is proud & humbled to be able to support Project K-9 Hero with a salute to K-9 Mattis. Mattis was born on 5/28/13 in Slovakia. He is a German Shepherd who works in narcotics detection, tracking, apprehension & protection. Mattis was an active officer from 2015 through 2021. His partner & handler is Mark Tappan. Mattis assisted in over 200 arrests during his six years of service. Mattis received several awards, including the Purple Heart, Officer of the Year, AKC Paw of Courage, and AKC Excellence in Service Police K-9s.

Today, Mattis and Mark work together to engage & entertain on social media. Mattis (and Mark) agreed to work with HuggleGroup® to raise funds for Project K-9 Hero, which protects those who've protected others. Project K-9 Hero is a national nonprofit 501c3 organization whose mission is to provide medical care, food & death benefit assistance for our nation's retired Police K-9s and Military Working Dogs. Project K-9 Hero also helps K-9s who need a home after service through rehabilitation and adoption. Project K-9 Hero dedicates itself to "Protecting Those Who Protected Us" by spreading awareness & educating the public.
